Communication Solutions Pre-Sales Engineer

The imei Communications Solutions Pre-Sales Engineer is a permanent full-time communications technical/engineering role working in imei's French Forest offices as part of Sales Enablement team.   

The role supports the company's sales efforts by providing communications solutions design, specification, documentation, commercial overview and deployment planning. 

In this role you will be engaging with both imei's existing customers and prospects, providing technical expertise, insights and direction to enable them to maximise their investment in communications technologies.  


Role Requirements

Pre-Sales Activity – Supporting the sales process working with sales team including early opportunity discussion workshops, prospect engagement meetings and design concepts. 

Pre-Sales Design – Gathering functional and non-functional customer requirements and making technical solution recommendations. Provide the technical components for establishing customers' business cases. Effort and risk analysis, along with costing for professional services implementation projects, focused on producing scope or statement of work and high-level design documents to accompany sales proposals.  

Convergence Engineer & Design Consultant – Produce designs, specifications, pricing and bills-of-materials for converged "whole-of-business" communications and managed mobility services to address client challenges and objectives; analyse and document integration of SaaS, hosted, and on-premise solution components into customers' existing IT infrastructure 

Education and Training – Resident Subject Matter Expert within the team to provide structured and ad-hoc internal education and training in conjunction with Product Management. Contributes to the establishment of a standardised demo environment.  

Travel - Some interstate travel may be required   


About you
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about communications technology trends: mobility (MDM, EMM, Security, Applications); networking (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi) and unified communications and collaboration. 

  • Proven ability to translate and present complex solutions to all levels and within government, corporate and commercial organisations 

  • Proactive approach to building technical relationships with customers and partners, and an ability to interpret customers' business and technical needs 

  • Proven ability to assist Account Directors and Managers with sales through your technical capabilities and expertise 

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to present solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Confident presenter. 

  • Able to solve complex problems, and multitask in a fast-moving environment with multiple customers simultaneously  

  • 5+ years' experience working in communications environments; tertiary qualified; curious about technology, hungry for knowledge, keep education and certifications up to date 

  • Reporting to the Sales Enablement manager you will receive a commensurate base salary, necessary tools and technologies and work in a flexible working environment  


Technical Experience and/or Understanding of:

MDM, MAM, MTD, EMM, Enterprise App Stores (MobileIron, AirWatch, Intune, Jamf, Citrix XenMobile, BlackBerry); Per-App VPN for iOS and Android 

Exchange ActiveSync, Reverse Proxies, Active Directory integrations (LDAP, AD FS) 

Data & IP network design and optimisation including WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, SDN, VPN integration; Cisco, HP/Aruba well-regarded 

UC & C – understand of any major vendor systems e.g. Cisco, Alcatel Lucent Enterprise, Mitel, Microsoft Teams/365. (Certifications very well regarded) 

Wi-Fi network security/authentication, including WPA2 Enterprise with device, user, and group cert based auth
